My Corona Cut

Have you started wondering about it yet?

If we’re in social isolation for the next 12 weeks and not allowed to go to the barber or hairdresser?

I needed a trim a week ago. In 3 weeks I’m going to start looking feral. I don’t even want to think about 6-9 weeks’ time when my natural poof starts making me look like Bozo the clown.

There are some options of course.

The kitchen scissors might be drafted into action. My trusty beard trimmer might have to do double duty. Or perhaps I could invest in a jaunty new cap.

None of these options are going to be pretty.

This pandemic has caused all of us to think about many things that we had taken for granted. It’s forced us to change.

I don’t think that change is bad.

Sometimes change makes us uncomfortable. Sometimes it’s hard. Sometimes it ends up not being right for us..

Sometimes though, change is progress. We wake up 6 months later and wonder how we ever did things the old way. We wonder why we didn’t do it before.

I think the biggest thing that has changed is how we communicate. Both internally and with our customers.

For the moment at least, sitting next to our colleagues has been replaced by Slack. Meetings have been replaced by Zoom. Conferences have been replaced by targeted outreach on LinkedIn.

It has also forced us to think about what impactful communication looks like. Why not provide a place for me to simply and easily find what I’m looking for. More importantly make it personal to me. A generic 15 page guide to the new government regulations doesn’t help. Telling me which ones you think are applicable to me does.

Now might be a good time to make a few other changes to how we communicate too.

At Alacrity we help clients and law firms structure their communication in a new way. Both benefit from reduced friction, clear and consistent expectations management and reduced uncertainty. Communicating in this way benefits all by forming stronger, well functioning, partnerships that increase in value over time.

Why not embrace a bit of change for the future?

Be Well,
